Appointed:
Judge McCaffrey graduated from QUB in 1981, LLB Hons. and subsequently from the College of Europe, Bruges in 1982.
She qualified as a solicitor in Northern Ireland in 1984, and was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1988 and in the Republic of Ireland in 2002.
Judge McCaffrey was Legal Assistant to the House of Lords Select Committee on the European Communities from 1986 to 1988 and part-time Lecturer in European Law at QUB from 1988-1991.
Judge McCaffrey practised as a solicitor for 28 years in the Strabane area, focusing on non-contentious and commercial work, estate planning, family law, employment and discrimination law and civil litigation in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. While in practice as a solicitor, she was appointed as a part-time position as a part-time Chairman of Industrial Tribunals in 1998 and became a full-time Employment Judge in 2013.
Judge McCaffrey was appointed as a County Court Judge in September 2016.
